Fat Cats on Thin Ice                                        Harry Moore

In his new novel Harry Moore removes the lid off the professional sector, banks and business support agencies. This is not the ‘ivory tower’ world of high finance in the city but the story of what is happening at grass roots level. It is a world where to be a qualified accountant carries more weight, and a far bigger pay packet, than to be a designer, an engineer or a manufacturer. In his story, based on personal experiences, he shows how many banks, lawyers, accountants, work together in a world that feeds off those who create the wealth; those who do things and convert raw materials into products and turn ideas into reality. He shows how EU and Government backed funding schemes designed to help small businesses are used to create self-perpetuating quangos that manage the funds.

Follow Gerard the insolvency practitioner, Rob the corporate finance man, Tony the turnaround consultant, Stephen the banker and the directors of a manufacturing business in a conflict between fees and survival. Their personal lives become interwoven with their professional lives culminating in unexpected twists and turns. In addition to his career Gerard has problems with his wife Julie, a good time girl who leads him into a situation that could destry his career. He battles embroiled in a btalle with Tony and everything is revealed in a dramatic climax by the lake where a suicide took place. This is a book you will not be able to put down whether you are asscocaited with the world of banking and the professions or not.
